FAQ
Simple answers for families before launch.
This page will become more specific once Trident's facility, launch schedule, and final enrollment details are confirmed.
What ages does Trident teach?
The indoor launch program is designed primarily for swimmers ages 3 and older. Adult private and semi-private instruction is also expected to be available.
What if my swimmer is under age 3?
Trident does not currently plan to begin with regular lessons for swimmers under 3. Families interested in future parent-and-child or early-years programming are encouraged to join the interest list and let us know.
How long are lessons?
Launch lessons are planned as 30-minute recurring sessions.
How large are classes?
Small Group classes are capped at 3 swimmers for ages 3–5 and 4 swimmers for ages 6+. Semi-Private lessons are typically 2 compatible swimmers. Private lessons are one-on-one.
How do I know which level my swimmer needs?
You do not need to know before reaching out. Tell us what your swimmer can do, what feels difficult, and what you would like them to accomplish. Trident will recommend a starting level.
Do we need an evaluation before enrolling?
Usually, no. Trident uses family intake information first. A brief water check may be used only when a swimmer's ability cannot be described clearly enough for safe placement.
Can I choose private lessons instead of group lessons?
Families generally choose the lesson format. Trident recommends the swimmer's level and may suggest a different format only when there is a meaningful instructional or safety reason.
How often will I hear about progress?
Families are expected to receive regular informal feedback and monthly electronic progress updates.
Does my child need to be fearless in the water before starting?
No. Fear, uncertainty, and low confidence are common reasons families seek lessons. Trident will meet the swimmer where they are while still working toward safe, meaningful progress.
Does a parent need to stay?
For child lessons, at least one parent or guardian is expected to remain on deck or in the facility's designated nearby viewing area and remain readily accessible during the lesson. Final site-specific rules will depend on the selected facility.
Where will lessons be held?
Trident is currently securing a year-round indoor Greater Boston launch location. Join the interest list for the facility announcement and enrollment opening.
Do you offer adult lessons?
Adult Private and Adult Semi-Private lessons are expected to be available for comfort, foundational swimming, technique, efficiency, fitness, or specific goals.
